Is GW0742 legal in Australia?

The sibling of GW501516 (cardarine), sold on the same endurance story with none of the same evidence. No human study of GW0742 of any kind has ever been published. The endurance result is mice on a treadmill.

GW0742 switches on a fat-burning switch in cells called PPAR-delta. It targets the same switch as GW501516, and came from the same GlaxoSmithKline chemists.

How it works: GW0742 switches on PPAR-delta, a switch inside cells that ramps up fat burning and mitochondrial genes in muscle. In the mouse drug-pair study, mice given GW0742 tended to have more PGC-1alpha, a master switch for making mitochondria.

Approval history: Never approved and never tested in a registered human trial. WADA, the world anti-doping agency, bans it in sport, along with the other drugs that work the same way (PPAR-delta drugs).

Registers or lists medicines and health products on the ARTG, its official register. It also sorts substances into schedules in the Poisons Standard. Many peptides are Schedule 4 (prescription only). So having them without a prescription, or importing them for yourself, is restricted. That is true even when no product is registered.

Under the World Anti-Doping Code, category S0 bans, at all times, any drug-like substance that meets two tests. No other section of the List covers it. And no government health regulator anywhere has a current approval for it as a treatment in people. Many substances that are approved somewhere are banned by name in another section. So approval does not mean a substance is allowed in sport.
