Is Semaglutide with B12 legal in Australia?

A pharmacy-made premix where the B12 dose is set by the semaglutide dose, not by anyone's B12 level. The B12 stays at 0.5 mg/mL in every strength, while semaglutide comes at 1 or 5 mg/mL. So one strength gives five times more B12 per milligram of semaglutide than the other. No study has tested the mix. No study backs the reason the B12 is added.

Compounding pharmacies pair semaglutide with B12, in the form called cyanocobalamin. The reasons they give are that B12 helps with the sick feeling and the tiredness people get on a GLP-1 drug.

How it works: Semaglutide copies the gut hormone GLP-1. It slows how fast the stomach empties and turns down appetite, through the brain and the body.

Approval history: Not an approved product. Pharmacy-mixed (compounded) products are not FDA approved. They are not checked for safety, for whether they work, or for quality. The FDA has also raised concerns about unapproved GLP-1 products sold for weight loss.

Registers or lists medicines and health products on the ARTG, its official register. It also sorts substances into schedules in the Poisons Standard. Many peptides are Schedule 4 (prescription only). So having them without a prescription, or importing them for yourself, is restricted. That is true even when no product is registered.

Whether Semaglutide with B12 is banned in sport is set by the World Anti-Doping Code and by military rules, not by its legal status in Australia. Before you compete or get tested, look up Semaglutide with B12 by name on the Prohibited List, or look up a named product in Global DRO. Under the World Anti-Doping Code, category S0 bans, at all times, any drug-like substance that meets two tests. No other section of the List covers it. And no government health regulator anywhere has a current approval for it as a treatment in people. Many substances that are approved somewhere are banned by name in another section.
