What this means

  • 01

Endoluten can be sold in the United States as a supplement, food or cosmetic ingredient under the classification above, without drug approval.

  • 02

Supplement status means FDA has not evaluated any health claim; manufacturers are responsible for safety and labeling, and quality varies by product.

  • 03

Injectable or "research use only" versions are not supplements. That label does not make human use lawful, and injectables fall under medicines rules.

What Endoluten is

A pineal capsule sold on the longevity claims of two other substances. A PubMed search for Endoluten returns zero records. Every lifespan and mortality number attached to it was produced with epithalamin, a bovine pineal extract, or with epitalon, a synthetic tetrapeptide, and neither has been shown to be what is in the capsule.

Endoluten is one of the most heavily marketed products in the peptide bioregulator retail line, sold as a pineal gland complex for sleep, hormonal rhythm and longevity. Searched against PubMed the name returns nothing at all.

Mechanism: The proposed mechanism is inherited rather than demonstrated. Epithalamin was reported to increase melatonin synthesis and secretion in rats and to inhibit free radical processes in rats and flies, and the authors of the 1998 lifespan paper suggested its antioxidant properties as the route to lifespan extension.

Regulatory history: Not approved and not evaluated. Sold as a dietary supplement in the United States. The pineal preparations that carry the published data are Russian pharmaceutical preparations and are not approved in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia or Canada.

How FDA treats this kind of product

Approves prescription drugs by indication and polices unapproved products, including peptides sold online. Compounding pharmacies may prepare some compounds under a prescription when the FDA places them on a permitted bulk-substances category.

The classification above is the The Longevity Archive reading of U.S. Food and Drug Administration listings for Endoluten at the reviewed date, not a legal opinion. Rules change, and importing, prescribing and possessing a compound can each be treated differently. Check the regulator directly before acting on anything here.
