Is GUBamy legal in Australia?

A long-lasting amylin drug from Gubra. One early safety study in 76 people, paid for by AbbVie, has finished. No result from it, and no other human or animal data, has been published. PubMed holds zero records for it. Weight loss figures going around for it could not be traced to any real source.

GUB014295, called GUBamy by the company that made it, is a long-lasting copy of amylin. Amylin is a hormone the pancreas releases along with insulin.

How it works: Amylin works through receptors built from the calcitonin receptor paired with helper proteins (RAMPs). They sit in the hindbrain, in an area called the area postrema, and elsewhere.

Approval history: Not approved. One early safety study is finished (NCT06144684, 76 people, run by AbbVie). It mainly measured safety. No results posted and nothing published.

Registers or lists medicines and health products on the ARTG, its official register. It also sorts substances into schedules in the Poisons Standard. Many peptides are Schedule 4 (prescription only). So having them without a prescription, or importing them for yourself, is restricted. That is true even when no product is registered.

Whether GUBamy is banned in sport is set by the World Anti-Doping Code and by military rules, not by its legal status in Australia. Before you compete or get tested, look up GUBamy by name on the Prohibited List, or look up a named product in Global DRO. Under the World Anti-Doping Code, category S0 bans, at all times, any drug-like substance that meets two tests. No other section of the List covers it. And no government health regulator anywhere has a current approval for it as a treatment in people. Many substances that are approved somewhere are banned by name in another section. So approval does not mean a substance is allowed in sport.
