Two copper peptides in one serum, sold for hair and skin. Search the medical database for AHK-Cu and you get nothing. Not one paper. The other half has a little skin data and it is not good.
What people take it for
- Thicker hair.
- Firmer skin.
- People who think the two copper peptides do different jobs.
What the trials actually showed
The pair has never been tested. AHK-Cu has never been tested either, under that name, in anything. No lab work, no animals, no people. It rides on the fact that it looks like its cousin. The cousin, GHK-Cu, does have a trial. Thirteen people used it after laser skin work and blinded raters found no real change in redness, wrinkles or skin quality. Only the patients' own scores liked it. There is also gene and cell dish work behind it, and one gel trial running now that has not reported. A 2026 review pooled 19 randomised peptide trials and 1,341 people. The wrinkle effect was small and mostly came from peptides you swallow. One more thing. Both of these are copper peptides. So putting both in a bottle mostly means more copper peptide, not two different jobs. Brands do not agree on strengths and many print trade blend percentages, so this page will not give you a per squirt number.

Half of this bottle has never been studied by anyone. It is there because it sounds like the other half. That is not a reason to pay more.

Overview
Two copper tripeptides in one serum, sold for hair and skin. PubMed returns no publication for AHK-Cu under that name, so half the product has no literature at all, and the other half's human evidence is a cream that failed its blinded endpoints in 13 patients. Serum concentrations are not consistent between brands, so no per-application arithmetic is possible.
AHK-Cu is alanyl-histidyl-lysine bound to copper, a sibling of the better known glycyl-histidyl-lysine complex. It appears in hair serums alongside GHK-Cu on the strength of a claim that it targets follicles while the other targets skin. Search PubMed for it and there is nothing indexed under that name. No pharmacology, no penetration study, no animal model, no trial. That is the most important sentence on this page and it is worth dwelling on, because the ingredient is sold at peptide prices on the implicit strength of GHK-Cu's file.
GHK-Cu's file is real but small and pointed the other way from how it is used here. Thirteen patients randomised after circumoral CO2 laser resurfacing to a regimen with or without GHK-Cu skin care showed no significant difference in redness on computer analysis and blinded evaluation, and no significant improvement in wrinkles or overall skin quality. Only the patients' own questionnaire favoured it, at p = 0.04. The single registered interventional trial of GHK-Cu is a gel on punch-biopsy wounds in an estimated 60 healthy adults and has not reported. A broader review of the gene and cell data describes collagen and elastin synthesis and fibroblast support, all of it topical or in vitro.
Brands do not agree on concentrations for either component and many print a trade-blend percentage rather than a peptide percentage, so this page does not state a per-application amount. What can be said is that these are two copper complexes in the same bottle, so the copper load is the sum of both, and copper is about 16% of a GHK-Cu complex by mass.
The combination itself has never been studied. Two copper tripeptides with overlapping chemistry in one serum is closer to a larger dose of copper peptide than to two mechanisms, which is the same structural point that applies to the growth hormone blends with two agents at one receptor.
Mechanism of action
Both are copper-bound tripeptides that deliver copper to tissue and are claimed to signal fibroblasts and follicular cells. GHK-Cu has published gene expression and cell culture work behind those claims. AHK-Cu has no published mechanistic work under that name, and its inclusion rests on structural similarity to a molecule that does.
Human evidence
One component has a small negative topical trial and the other has no literature under its own name.

Reading the research record
This is a clean example of evidence borrowing. A molecule with a real if modest literature sits next to a structurally similar molecule with none, they share a category name, and the marketing lets the file on the first cover both. The correct reading is that the serum contains one ingredient with thin topical human data and one with no data, and the copper from both adds together.
Nothing here is dangerous on skin. The cost of being wrong is money and the opportunity cost of not using something with better evidence, which for skin means retinoids and sunscreen and for androgenetic alopecia means the approved topical.

Nineteen randomised trials, 1,341 participants. Peptides improved hydration and brightness with a modest pooled wrinkle effect of mean difference 0.27 at p = 0.04, largely driven by oral rather than topical products, and with inconsistent elasticity and density results. Neither copper tripeptide on this page is among the ingredients with an individual randomised trial in this pooled set.
