Is Mitochondrial+ blend legal in Australia?

A 55 mg vial of three peptides, sold at 9 mg SS-31, 16 mg TB-500 and 30 mg MOTS-c. MOTS-c is more than half the powder, and it has no study in people. SS-31, the one with a large final-stage study behind it, is the smallest share at 16.4%. The third is a repair peptide with no link to mitochondria at all.

In this vial, the math changes what the product is. The split is 9 mg SS-31, 16 mg TB-500 and 30 mg MOTS-c, 55 mg of powder in all.

How it works: SS-31 sticks to a fat called cardiolipin in the inner wall of the mitochondria, and is said to steady it. MOTS-c is a peptide made from the mitochondria's own DNA, and is said to switch on AMPK, a fuel sensor in cells.

Approval history: Not approved. None of the three parts is approved for sale, and no regulator has reviewed the combination.

Registers or lists medicines and health products on the ARTG, its official register. It also sorts substances into schedules in the Poisons Standard. Many peptides are Schedule 4 (prescription only). So having them without a prescription, or importing them for yourself, is restricted. That is true even when no product is registered.

Whether Mitochondrial+ blend is banned in sport is set by the World Anti-Doping Code and by military rules, not by its legal status in Australia. Before you compete or get tested, look up Mitochondrial+ blend by name on the Prohibited List, or look up a named product in Global DRO. Under the World Anti-Doping Code, category S0 bans, at all times, any drug-like substance that meets two tests. No other section of the List covers it. And no government health regulator anywhere has a current approval for it as a treatment in people. Many substances that are approved somewhere are banned by name in another section. So approval does not mean a substance is allowed in sport.
