Mechanism: Thymalin is a peptide complex extracted from calf thymus and is claimed to restore thymic-dependent immune function. Epithalamin is a pineal peptide extract; epitalon is the synthetic tetrapeptide derived from that programme and is claimed to act on pineal function, melatonin rhythm and telomerase.

Regulatory history: Neither is approved in the United States. Both are produced and used in Russia within the peptide bioregulator programme, and are sold elsewhere as research chemicals.
