hs-CRP

Also called high-sensitivity C-reactive protein.

A sensitive blood marker of inflammation. It is not a diagnosis of a disease, and it rises for many reasons.

Read this first

  • Coach, not doctor. Aaron Cuha is a coach, not a doctor. No clinical credential is claimed for him, or for these pages. A number on a panel is a conversation starter with a clinician, not a DIY diagnosis. Nothing here is a prescription, a protocol, or a reason to start or stop a medicine. Educational use only. This database summarizes published research and is not medical advice. Where a dose appears it is a record of what a trial or clinic ran, or what people describe doing, with its source attached. Nothing here is a recommendation for personal use.
  • Affiliate disclosure. Knowledge stays free. Every page, every guide and every tool is free to read and stays free. Lab-panel affiliate links, when they exist, live on /bloodwork/partners and print what is earned on the row, or that nothing is earned today. This glossary does not sell panels. The Archive does not order labs.
  • Three lab stories stay separate. /bloodwork is the human panel. /testing and /prices/labs are peptide certificate chemistry. /supplements/quality is what is in the bottle.

Why a longevity audience asks

JUPITER enrolled people with LDL under 130 mg/dL and hs-CRP of 2 mg/L or more and showed that rosuvastatin cut events. That is a statin trial, not a curcumin trial. The owner's curcumin rule still uses hs-CRP as the bottle trigger.

How a coach reads it

Many labs treat under 1 mg/L as lower-risk, 1 to 3 as average, and over 3 as higher-risk conversation bands when the number is stable. Over 10 mg/L often means acute illness, and you do not read that as a chronic-inflammation signal. Educational, not a diagnosis.

Units on this page: mg/L

When it is low

A low, stable hs-CRP is usually reassurance about this one axis, not a reason to keep a curcumin bottle going.

When it is high

First ask whether you were sick, injured, or recently trained very hard. If it stays high, the clinician conversation is about cause. Curcumin phytosome is a formulation-specific anti-inflammatory supplement, not JUPITER.

Easy ways to misread it

  • Do not draw this the day after a fever or a race.
  • Biotin can interfere with some immunoassays. Tell the lab about high-dose biotin.
  • JUPITER does not transfer to a spice capsule.

What to ask a clinician

Ask for hs-CRP when you are well. Repeat it before you call it a baseline.
