Setmelanotide reconstitution calculator
The short answer
Math for Setmelanotide, not a dose. Enter the vial label, the water you add, and the amount per draw you were given. Research peptides are usually dosed in micrograms.
Evidence grade for Setmelanotide: Limited. The rule: people have taken it in a published study, but fewer than 100 of them. The sum on this page: 1 completed trial, 38 people given it. A grade counts how much has been done to people, not whether it works.

Dose
This calculator never sets a dose
Research peptides are usually dosed in micrograms.
Preset buttons stop unit mistakes. Type your own amount over any of them.
The tool converts a number you already have. It does not recommend one.
What is in the vial
Melanocortin peptides usually ship in 5 or 10 mg vials.
Bacteriostatic water you add
This changes how strong the mix is, not how much peptide is in the vial. 2 mL is the most common. A standard vial holds about 3 mL. The larger options are for blends and big vials that come in bigger glass.
Amount per draw
Research peptides are usually dosed in micrograms.
Syringe
Insulin barrels are printed in units, where 100 units is 1 mL. Luer barrels are printed in millilitres. Pick the one in your hand.
0.3 mL insulin (30 units, half-unit marks)
Fill in the vial, the water and the amount per draw to see the result.
How Setmelanotide would decay on a daily schedule
Two example draws of the same size, one 24 hours ago and one now, fading by the listed half-life of ~11 hours. This shows the shape of the curve for once a day only. It is a picture of how the amount fades over time, not a schedule and not a recommendation. The size of the draw is made up and the same in both.
How the math works for Setmelanotide
Concentration, meaning how strong the mix is, equals the amount on the Setmelanotide vial label, converted to micrograms, divided by the water in milliliters. The volume you draw equals the amount you enter divided by that concentration. Multiply that volume by 100 to get units on a U-100 insulin syringe. The calculator rounds to the nearest mark your syringe can show. Draws per vial is the total in the vial divided by the amount per draw.
Frequently asked questions
Where do the amount presets on this Setmelanotide calculator come from?
Research peptides are usually dosed in micrograms. They exist to stop unit mistakes, which are the costly kind here. Entering a milligram amount into a field set to micrograms is off by a factor of a thousand, and a plain calculator answers it with a confident zero. They are not a recommendation, and nothing on this page sets an amount for you. Type your own amount over any preset. The math is the same either way.
What is in a Setmelanotide vial before reconstitution?
A freeze-dried powder. The label gives the total amount in the vial, for example a number of mg, not a strength per mL. The strength of the mix only exists after bacteriostatic water is added. It is the label amount divided by the water. The calculator does that division, then turns the amount you enter into a syringe volume.
How do syringe units work for Setmelanotide?
Insulin syringes are marked in U-100 units, where 100 units equals 1 mL, on 0.3, 0.5 and 1 mL barrels. The calculator divides the strength of the Setmelanotide mix by 100 to get the amount in each unit. Then it divides the amount you enter by that figure to get the mark to pull to. The result is rounded to the nearest mark you can read on the syringe you choose: half-unit marks on 0.3 mL, 1-unit marks on 0.5 mL, 2-unit marks on 1 mL.
How long can reconstituted Setmelanotide be kept?
A vial mixed with bacteriostatic water and used more than once is usually thrown out after 28 days. That is the default from USP 797, a US pharmacy standard, with the vial kept at 2 to 8 C and out of the light. Write the mix date and discard date on the vial. The calculator's print label does this. If the liquid is cloudy or has bits floating in it, do not use it. If the maker or pharmacy label for Setmelanotide gives a different time, the label wins.
