Alpha-MSH is a natural hormone. It makes your skin tan, helps control appetite and calms swelling. Melanotan and KPV are built from it. The natural hormone does not last long in the body, and it is not sold as a product.
What people take it for
- People do not take the hormone itself. They take lab-built copies like melanotan.
- Those copies are used for tanning, appetite and swelling.
What studies in people showed
There are no human studies of the natural hormone on this page. In mice without its brain switch, MC4R, the mice overate and became obese. That showed this system controls body weight. Alpha-MSH is a natural hormone. It makes the skin make pigment, affects appetite through the brain, and calms swelling. Melanotan peptides and KPV, a small piece that calms swelling, are built from it. The natural hormone does not last long in the body. The interest is in the switches it works on, which several drugs are built around. There are no human studies on this page. In mice, knocking out its brain switch, MC4R, made them overeat and become obese. It is a natural hormone, not a product.
How does Alpha-MSH work?
It switches on melanocortin receptors. MC1R drives skin colour. MC4R controls appetite and energy balance. Others calm swelling.
