Is Efpeglenatide legal in the United Kingdom?

An experimental long-lasting GLP-1 drug that lowered heart and kidney problems in a large study. It is not broadly approved.

Efpeglenatide is a long-lasting GLP-1 drug based on exendin-4, the Gila monster hormone. It is joined to a piece of an antibody so it lasts longer.

How it works: It switches on the GLP-1 receptor and lasts for days. That helps control blood sugar.

Approval history: Investigational, not broadly FDA-approved

Whether Efpeglenatide is banned in sport is set by the World Anti-Doping Code and by military rules, not by its legal status in the United Kingdom. Under the World Anti-Doping Code, category S0 bans, at all times, any drug-like substance that meets two tests. No other section of the List covers it.
