What KPV is
A tiny peptide of three amino acids, cut from the hormone alpha-MSH. It calms swelling and is studied for gut and skin inflammation, mostly in animals.
KPV is the last three amino acids of alpha-MSH, a hormone. It carries much of that hormone's calming effect on swelling, without darkening the skin.
How it works: It gets inside cells and turns down NF-kB, a main switch for swelling. That lowers the swelling signals the cell sends out.
Approval history: Not FDA-approved. In April 2026 the FDA took it off Category 2, its list of pharmacy ingredients with safety worries. In July 2026 the FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee voted 8 to 6 in favor of letting pharmacies make it. The FDA has not written the rule yet
How Health Canada treats this kind of product
