Pemvidutide is an experimental once a week shot from Altimmune. It works on two signals, GLP-1 and glucagon.

How it works: It turns on the GLP-1 and glucagon signals. That cuts appetite, raises the energy the body burns and lowers the fat stored in the liver.

Approval history: Investigational. PERFORMA, a final-stage study in MASH (a serious fatty liver disease), started August 2026. The FDA gave it Breakthrough Therapy status for MASH, which can speed up its review
