A triple GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon agonist developed mainly for metabolic liver disease.

Overview

Efocipegtrutide, also known as HM15211, is a long-acting triple agonist of the GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors from Hanmi Pharmaceutical, developed with a particular focus on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Like retatrutide it targets all three incretin-related pathways. It is investigational and earlier in development than the leading triple agonist. Update, September 2026: the Phase 2b biopsy-confirmed MASH trial (215 patients) reached primary completion in June 2026; results have not yet been published.

Mechanism of action

Agonizes GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors, combining appetite, insulin, and energy-expenditure effects with liver-directed action.
