RLS-1496 is Rubedo's skin cream meant to clear worn-out skin cells. In an early study in psoriasis, eczema and sun-damaged skin, it was safe, and treated skin switched on more collagen genes.
RLS-1496 is a cream meant to clear worn-out skin cells by acting on GPX4, an enzyme inside cells. In an early study reported in March 2026, it was well tolerated. A quarter of people with psoriasis or eczema had their itch drop by 4 points or more at four weeks. Nobody on the plain cream did. In sun-damaged skin, higher doses hit the target more, and collagen genes became more active. It is the first drug of this kind with data on ageing skin in people.
How does RLS-1496 work?
It acts on GPX4 in worn-out cells, which leads to their removal while healthy cells are left alone.

The cream was safe, and there were early hints that it does something. In a first-stage trial covering psoriasis, eczema and sun-damaged skin, about a quarter of people had a clear drop in itching at four weeks, and none did on the plain cream. Treated skin also switched on more collagen genes. Here is the limit. A first-stage trial is built to check for harm, the numbers are tiny, and gene activity is not better skin.

This trial is running and has published nothing. The same cream is being tried on actinic keratosis, the rough scaly patches sun damage leaves behind, which can turn into skin cancer. About 24 people are planned, everybody gets the cream, and there is no comparison group. A study built that way cannot tell you what would have happened anyway. No results have been posted.
Second indication for the same cream: an open-label Phase 1/2 study of 24 planned participants sponsored by Rubedo Life Sciences, started February 2026 and listed as active, not recruiting. No results posted.
