What is Remternetug?
Remternetug is Lilly's follow-up to donanemab, made to be self-injected at home. A large final-stage study finished in 2026 and results are pending.
Remternetug targets the same modified form of amyloid as donanemab, but it is given as a shot under the skin at home. The large final-stage study TRAILRUNNER-ALZ 1 judged it on how much amyloid it cleared from brain scans. It finished in May 2026. TRAILRUNNER-ALZ 3 is testing it in people who have amyloid in the brain but no symptoms. Results had not been made public when this page was reviewed.
How does Remternetug work?
It is an antibody against a modified form of amyloid beta, called N3pG. It helps the brain's clean-up cells, called microglia, eat the plaque.

This trial finished in May 2026 and has published nothing. It tested remternetug in people with early Alzheimer's symptoms and judged it on how much amyloid plaque cleared from brain scans, not on memory or daily function. A completed trial with no posted result is worth noting on its own. Until the figures appear, there is no published evidence that this drug helps anyone.
