A topical cosmetic peptide extension of Argireline marketed for reducing the appearance of expression wrinkles.
Overview
SNAP-8 is an octapeptide developed as an elongated version of Argireline for anti-wrinkle skincare. Like Argireline it is proposed to reduce the depth of expression lines by interfering with the muscle-signaling proteins involved in contraction at the skin surface. Evidence is limited to small cosmetic studies. It is a cosmetic ingredient, not a drug.
Mechanism of action
Mimics part of SNAP-25 to modestly reduce neurotransmitter release involved in facial muscle contraction at the surface.
