Eloralintide is a weekly shot from Lilly. It copies amylin, a hormone that makes you feel full. It does not touch the GLP-1 signal that Ozempic uses. It is not approved. It is in large final-stage studies, alone and added to tirzepatide.
What people take it for
- Weight loss with less nausea than GLP-1 drugs.
- Breaking a stall on tirzepatide.
What studies in people showed
The main study had 263 adults with obesity and ran 48 weeks. They lost 9.5 to 20.1 percent of their weight, depending on the dose. People on a dummy shot lost 0.4 percent. Stomach side effects looked milder than on GLP-1 drugs. Large final-stage studies began in late 2025. One tests it on top of tirzepatide. None has reported.

Eloralintide is a once a week shot from Lilly. It copies amylin, a hormone that makes you feel full, and it does not act on GLP-1. In a 48-week mid-stage study, 263 adults with obesity lost 9.5 to 20.1 percent of their weight, depending on the dose. People on a dummy shot lost 0.4 percent. Stomach side effects looked milder than with GLP-1 drugs. Lilly moved it into large final-stage studies, called ENLIGHTEN, in late 2025. It is also testing it on top of tirzepatide, for people whose weight loss stalls on those drugs.
How does Eloralintide work?
It turns on amylin receptors. That slows how fast food leaves the stomach and cuts appetite, through a route separate from GLP-1.

It worked well. 263 adults with obesity took weekly eloralintide or a dummy shot for just under a year. The lowest dose took off about a tenth of body weight, and the highest about a fifth. The dummy group barely moved. Stomach side effects looked milder than on GLP-1 drugs. This is a mid-stage study, so the bigger ones still have to agree.
9.5% to 20.1% weight loss at 48 weeks versus 0.4% on placebo.

Nothing has been published from this trial yet. It is the first of the large final-stage trials of eloralintide in adults with obesity, and it has been signing people up since late 2025. A trial at this stage is the one that decides whether a drug can be sold. Until it reports, the only human results for eloralintide come from the smaller mid-stage study. Read this entry as a marker of where the drug is, not as evidence that it works.

This trial is running and has published nothing. It tests eloralintide on top of tirzepatide, so one group gets the amylin drug and the incretin drug together. The idea is to help people who stop losing weight on tirzepatide alone. Whether the pair beats tirzepatide by itself is exactly what has not been answered. No results have been posted.
