The compound count is derived from the published profiles and printed on /methodology. It is not typed into this answer as a snapshot that will go stale. That figure is compound profiles, not a count of every peptide that exists, and not a count of every vial on the internet. Some profiles are approved peptide drugs, some are investigational, some are research chemicals, and a few are small molecules often discussed next to peptides, such as MK-677.
