What is a peptide bioregulator?

It is a short peptide, usually two to four amino acids, developed by a Soviet and Russian research tradition (the Khavinson group) on the idea that specific tissues age because they stop making enough of their own regulatory peptides. Epitalon, thymalin, cartalax, and pinealon are the best known examples. Almost all of the human evidence for this family comes from that one research lineage and has not been replicated by outside groups.
