What does MOTS-c stand for?
MOTS-c is Mitochondrial ORF of the 12S rRNA type-c: a 16-amino-acid peptide encoded in mitochondrial DNA, molecular weight about 2,174 daltons. The letters name where the sequence sits in the mitochondrial genome, not a brand and not a measured fat-loss result. Human evidence on this site is observational circulating levels, a mitochondrial DNA variant in 27,527 people, and an exercise-related rise in endogenous MOTS-c, plus a Phase 2a trial still recruiting (NCT07505745). Nobody on this site has yet published a trial of giving MOTS-c to a person as a finished drug.
