Overview
DSIP is a nine-amino-acid peptide first isolated for its ability to promote sleep-related brain activity in animals. Research has explored roles in sleep regulation, stress and cortisol modulation, and pain, but human studies are limited and results are inconsistent. It is not an approved drug and its evidence base is preliminary. Regulatory update, September 2026: at the July 23 to 24, 2026 Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee meeting, DSIP (emideltide) was the one nominated peptide the panel voted not to recommend for compounding.
Mechanism of action
Proposed to modulate sleep-related neural activity and stress hormone regulation, though its exact receptor targets remain unclear.
