How does DSIP work?

This site's DSIP profile says the exact receptor targets remain unclear. It is a nine-amino-acid peptide, molecular weight 848.9 daltons, half-life short, on the order of minutes. A 2006 review cited on that page says the sleep link was never characterized further: no gene, precursor, or receptor identified, so the sleep hypothesis remains weak. This site's review found no published human trial. In July 2026 the Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee voted against recommending DSIP, also called emideltide, for compounding. A name that includes sleep is not a counted sleep mechanism. This FAQ does not invent a receptor. Full record at /compounds/dsip.
