What is semax used for?

Semax, a synthetic fragment of ACTH, is approved in Russia and Ukraine for stroke and cognitive disorders, and is separately studied for BDNF driven neuroprotection, focus, and mild cognitive enhancement. It is not FDA approved. In July 2026 a US advisory committee voted to recommend it for compounding pharmacy use, though that vote is advisory and FDA rulemaking has not concluded.
