Can you reuse a needle to draw and then inject?

The standard injection safety rule is one needle, one syringe, only one time: a needle is considered contaminated the moment it has been used and should not be reused for another draw or injection. Repeatedly puncturing a rubber vial stopper with the same needle can also shear off tiny rubber fragments into the solution, a risk that is lower with a fine insulin needle than with a larger one but not zero.
