Is it normal for an injection site to bruise?

A small bruise from nicking a tiny vessel under the skin is common enough that it is listed as an expected reaction on the FDA-approved label for injected biologics with a real trial record, alongside redness, itching, pain and swelling. It is not, on its own, a reason to stop. Redness that is spreading, red streaks, warmth, increasing pain, pus or a fever are different and need a clinician rather than watchful waiting.
