What is oxytocin used for?

Oxytocin is FDA approved, as Pitocin, for inducing or strengthening labor during childbirth, a well established obstetric use. It is also studied for social behavior, bonding, and psychiatric conditions, but this site's review found that evidence to be mixed rather than settled, so those uses remain investigational rather than approved indications.
