Is epitalon the same as SS-31?

No. They are different molecules with different targets, different evidence, and different regulatory status. Epitalon is a synthetic pineal tetrapeptide, Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, molecular weight 390.3 daltons, also spelled epithalon, studied for longevity and telomeres in one Russian research lineage. SS-31 is an alias for elamipretide, a mitochondria-targeted peptide, molecular weight 639.8 daltons, that binds cardiolipin. Elamipretide received FDA accelerated approval on September 19, 2025 as Forzinity for Barth syndrome in patients weighing 30 kg or more. That approval does not cover longevity, and it does not make epitalon into SS-31. Sharing a longevity aisle is not a shared molecule. This site does not rank them.
