What is thymalin?

Thymalin is a calf thymus peptide preparation used clinically in the Soviet Union and Russia since the 1980s, with a substantial Russian clinical literature behind it, including a 6 to 8 year cohort reporting roughly twofold lower mortality in treated groups and a 92 patient open label randomized COVID-19 trial. This site's review found 8 citations for it, 4 of them human, none replicated by research groups outside that tradition.
