How does GHK-Cu work?

GHK-Cu is a copper-binding tripeptide. This site's profile lists the chemical name Copper Tripeptide-1, molecular weights 340.38 daltons for the free peptide and 402.92 daltons for the copper complex. A 1988 fibroblast paper cited on that page found collagen synthesis stimulated from picomolar concentrations, maximal at 1 nM. Reviews describe firmer skin in cosmetic studies. GHK-Cu is permitted as a cosmetic ingredient and is not an approved drug. Injected use is far less studied. Repeated injection into rat wound chambers increased wound tissue, type I collagen, and glycosaminoglycan production. A culture or topical finding is not a counted result for an injectable vial.
