How does BPC-157 work?

This site's BPC-157 profile states that no receptor or molecular target has been identified in people. FDA's 2026 evaluation gave that missing target as one reason it could not judge biological plausibility. Human mechanistic work on this site is limited to the observation that the peptide was not detectable in plasma after rectal dosing, and to a two-person pilot consistent with a plasma half-life under 30 minutes. FDA counted five human studies totaling fewer than 110 people, none by the subcutaneous or oral routes most buyers use. The animal literature describes angiogenesis, nitric oxide signaling, and growth hormone receptor expression in tendon fibroblasts.
