Can tesamorelin cause water retention?
This site's tesamorelin citations do not measure water retention or edema as an outcome. What they do report is visceral fat in people with HIV: 412 people at 26 weeks, visceral fat down 15.2% versus a 5.0% rise on placebo, and 806 pooled across both Phase 3 trials, treatment effect minus 15.4% VAT with no change in subcutaneous fat. A 20-week trial in 152 older adults raised IGF-1 117% within the physiological range and measured cognition, not fluid balance. A 61-person liver-fat trial found fasting glucose and glycated haemoglobin did not differ between groups. Absence of a counted fluid-retention rate is not proof that nobody swells. It is proof that this FAQ cannot publish one. This FAQ does not invent an adverse-event rate the citations do not contain. A new or worsening swelling question belongs with a clinician.
