How does GHRP-6 work?
GHRP-6 is a first-generation hexapeptide that agonizes the ghrelin receptor, GHS-R1a, to release growth hormone and to raise appetite through the same receptor ghrelin uses for hunger. Half-life on this site's profile is about 15 to 60 minutes. Molecular weight is 873.0 daltons. This site's review found no human trial citations for it. The receptor itself was cloned in 1996 as the target of GHRP-6 and related secretagogues. The 1991 Bowers paper and the 1998 ipamorelin comparison are animal and cell work: dual hypothalamic and pituitary action, similar growth-hormone potency to ipamorelin, with GHRP-6 less selective and more likely to raise cortisol, prolactin, and appetite.
