Why is MK-677 not FDA approved?

It completed Phase 3 clinical trials but the studies did not support approval; one well known trial in older adults found it increased growth hormone and IGF-1 as intended but also raised blood glucose and did not improve the physical function outcomes it was tested for. That result, not a lack of testing, is why an orally active compound that reached late stage trials never reached the market.
