Does tesamorelin cause cancer?

Tesamorelin's own trials, covering more than 800 participants, were designed to measure visceral fat reduction in HIV associated lipodystrophy and have not established a cancer risk. Raising growth hormone and IGF-1 is a theoretical concern researchers watch for with this entire drug class, since IGF-1 plays a role in cell growth, but that is a mechanistic caution, not a finding this compound's own published trial record has demonstrated.
