What is MK-677?

MK-677, also called ibutamoren, is an orally active small molecule, not a peptide, that activates the ghrelin receptor to raise growth hormone and IGF-1 levels. It went through clinical trials aimed at conditions like age related frailty but did not gain FDA approval after Phase 3 testing. It is sold as a research chemical and is often grouped with peptide secretagogues because it works through the same receptor.
