How does GHRP-2 work?

GHRP-2, also called pralmorelin, agonizes the ghrelin, or growth hormone secretagogue, receptor to release a pulse of growth hormone from the pituitary. Half-life on this site's profile is about 30 to 60 minutes. Molecular weight is 817.0 daltons. It is approved in Japan as a diagnostic of pituitary GH secretion: validation in 77 healthy subjects and 58 GH-deficient patients used a 100 microgram intravenous test with a 15 microgram per litre peak cut-off. A separate infusion increased ad libitum food intake about 36% in seven lean men alongside a strong GH rise, so the appetite effect is reduced rather than absent.
