How does retatrutide work?
It is a triple agonist, activating the GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors together, one receptor more than tirzepatide and two more than semaglutide. The added glucagon receptor activity is thought to raise energy expenditure and fat oxidation in the liver on top of the appetite suppressing effects the other two receptors provide, which researchers believe explains why its trials have reported the largest weight loss of any drug in this class so far.

Part of glp-1 and metabolic peptides. Semaglutide, tirzepatide, retatrutide, and the rest of the incretin and glucagon receptor family.
