Does semaglutide lose effectiveness over time?
This site holds no citation that defines a date when semaglutide loses effectiveness for an individual. SELECT followed 17,604 adults for a mean 39.8 months and still measured a 20% reduction in major adverse cardiovascular events (6.5% versus 8.0%). That is a long window, not a fade analysis. Weight trials (STEP 1 at 68 weeks, STEP UP at 72 weeks, OASIS 4 at 64 weeks) report a defined period. They do not publish an individual tachyphylaxis timeline. A plateau, a missed dose, a diet change, or a vial that is not the approved product are different problems from a proven loss of drug effect. This FAQ does not invent a fade date. A clinician can look at the actual course. Full record at /compounds/semaglutide.
