What is CagriSema?

CagriSema is a fixed combination of two molecules in one weekly injection: cagrilintide, a long-acting amylin receptor agonist, plus semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It is not cagrilintide alone and not semaglutide alone. Cagrilintide alone produced 6.0% to 10.8% weight loss at 26 weeks in 706 people versus 3.0% on placebo. Semaglutide alone, as Wegovy 2.4 milligrams, produced 14.9% at 68 weeks in STEP 1. Together, a Phase 2 trial in 92 adults with type 2 diabetes found 15.6% at 32 weeks versus 5.1% on semaglutide alone and 8.1% on cagrilintide alone. REDEFINE 2 found 13.7% versus 3.4% at 68 weeks in 1,206 people with type 2 diabetes. CagriSema remains investigational. Full record at /compounds/cagrilintide.
