Is liraglutide as effective as semaglutide?
No trial has run a full head to head between the two on weight loss, but liraglutide was the first GLP-1 drug approved specifically for obesity and requires a daily injection rather than weekly, with a shorter half life of about 13 hours versus semaglutide's roughly 7 days. Across the separate trials each drug has been tested in, semaglutide has generally produced larger average weight loss, though that is a comparison across different trials, not one study measuring both directly.
