How does survodutide work?

Survodutide is an investigational once-weekly dual agonist of the GLP-1 and glucagon receptors. The GLP-1 side is the appetite and glucose pathway familiar from semaglutide; the glucagon side is studied for energy expenditure and liver-directed effects. Half-life on this site's profile is about 6 days. Molecular weight is about 4,900 daltons. A 46-week obesity trial in 387 adults without diabetes found mean weight change of minus 14.9% at 4.8 milligrams weekly versus minus 2.8% on placebo. A 48-week MASH trial in 293 adults found histologic improvement without worsening fibrosis in 47 to 62% on survodutide versus 14% on placebo. Phase 3 SYNCHRONIZE-MASLD in 216 adults found 84% versus 24% reached at least a 30% liver-fat reduction, with minus 12.2% versus minus 1.0% body weight at 48 weeks. It is not FDA approved. This FAQ does not invent a dose. Full record at /compounds/survodutide.
